An important meeting of the Board of Directors of the National General Maritime Transport Company was held in Tripoli on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the headquarters of the National General Maritime Transport Company. This meeting, which comes within the framework of the company’s ongoing commitment to developing and expanding its business, witnessed extensive discussion of several strategic items aimed at strengthening the company’s role in the Libyan and European markets and improving the quality of maritime transport services provided.
The discussions focused on several key topics, most notably a review of an ambitious proposal to establish a shipping line for roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels, which would open new horizons for transporting goods and vehicles between Libyan and international ports with greater efficiency and speed. The Board also discussed a vital proposal to establish an integrated marine support station at one of Libya’s ports, with the aim of enhancing logistical support and providing the necessary services to the maritime fleet.
To strengthen trade ties with the European continent, the Council discussed the possibility of establishing a regular and sustainable maritime trade route between Libya and Europe, which would contribute to supporting trade and stimulating the national economy. In addition, the “Maritime Club” project was reviewed, which aims to provide a supportive social and professional environment for workers in the maritime sector and strengthen community ties.
The Council meeting concluded with specific, practical recommendations for developing precise implementation plans and clear timelines for implementing these vital proposals and projects.
